a tent is in the shape of right circular cylinder up to a height of 3m and conical above it.The total height of the tent is 13.5m and the radius of its base is 14m.Find the cost of cloth required to make the tent at the rate of Rs.80 per square metre.Take π=22/7.

height of cylinder = 3m
total height = 13.5 m
height of cone = 13.5 - 3
= 10.5 m
radius = 14 m
WE NEED TO FIND THE CURVED SURFACE AREA OF THE CYLINDER AND CONE :
CURVED SURFACE AREA OF THE CYLINDER:
2 \: \pi \: r \: h

2 × 22/7 × 14 ×3 = 264

CURVED SURFACE AREA OF THE CONE:
\pi \: r \: l

we have to find l which is the slant height
l =
 \sqrt{ {r}^{2}  \:  +  \:  {h}^{2} }
 \sqrt{196 \:  + 110.25}
=
 \sqrt{306.25}
= 17.5 m
now CURVED SURFACE AREA OF THE CONE :
22/7 × 14 × 17.5 = 770
total cloth needed = 264 + 770
= 1034
cost = 1034 × 80
= 82750 rupees
