A tent is made by stitching 4
triangular pieces of canvas,
each piece measuring 12 m,
12 m and 6 m (as shown in
the figure). How much canvas
is required to make the tent?
[Use square15 = 3.87]
[ignore the stitching margins]
Also find the total cost of the tent if the rate of
canvas is Rs. 225 per meter square.

pls answer anybody

Canvas Required = 139.32 m^2

The total cost of the tent = Rs. 31.347

Step-by-step explanation:

Let ABC be the triangular canvas piece with D as the mid-point on the base BC. So,

Given,

AB = 12m

BC = 6m

AC = 12m

so, we will find the height of each sheet using pythagoras theorem

AB^2 = AD^2 + BD^2

⇒ AD = \sqrt{12^2 - 3^2}

⇒ AD = \sqrt{144 -9}

⇒ AD = \sqrt{135}

∵ AD = 3 * \sqrt{15}

Thus, the area of Canvas sheet ABC = 1/2 * base * height

= 1/2 * BC * AD

= 1/2 * 6 * 3\sqrt{15}

= 9\sqrt{15}

= 9 * 3.87                           (∵ \sqrt{15} = 3.87)

= 34.83 m^2

∵ The Total area of the canvas = area of each sheet * no. of sheets

= 34.83 * 4

= 139.32 m^2

Now,

Cost of Canvas per meter = Rs. 225 per sq.m

∵ The Total Cost of Canvas = Rs. 225 * 139.32

= Rs. 31,347
