Moreover in tert butyl carbocation the three CH3 groups exert +I effect which results in greater electron density on the +vely charged carbon. In sec. carbocation the +I effect is comparitively less due to only two CH3 groups.Greater electron density results in stabilisation as it compensates for the +ve charge thus making it less reactive and more stable.

Thus tert butyl carbocation is more stable than sec. carbocation.
