Step-by-step explanation:

Given

a test tube has a lower part hemispherical and upper part cylindrical with same radius. If 5159/6 cm cube of water is added the test tube  will be just completely filled. but if 2002 / 3 cm cube of eater is added 5 cm of height will remain empty.find the radius and height of the cylindrical part

  • Volume of total tube will be
  • 2/3 π r^3 + π r^2h = 5159 / 6 cm^3 -----------1
  • Also
  • 2/3 π r^3 + π r^2 (h – 5) = 2002 / 3 cm^3---------2
  • Subtracting both the equations we get
  • 5 πr^2 = 5159 / 6 – 2002 / 3
  • 5πr^2 = 5159 – 4004 / 6
  •         = 1155 / 6
  • 30 πr^2 = 1155
  • Or r^2 = 49 / 4
  • Or r = 7 / 2
  • Substituting in tπe above equation we get
  • π(7/2)^2 (2/3 x 7/2 + h) = 5159 / 6
  • π(49/4)(7 + 3h / 3) = 5159 / 6
  •  77/2 (7 + 3h) = 5159 / 2
  •  7 + 3h = 5159 / 77
  • 7 + 3h = 67
  • 3h = 60
  • Or h = 20
