Aim of the experiment :to find the focal length of a convex mirror.

Materials required :a convex mirror a piece of paper and a stand

  • Procedure: the convex mirror is placed on the stand. We have to use the sunlight. So it should be placed in such a way that the convex mirror is in line perpendicular to the rays of light from the Sun.
  • Then we should place up a piece of paper such that the range of light falls on the paper. then we should elevate the mirror or bring the mirror close to the paper such that the rays of the sun are in a pinpoint
  • Observations: when the convex lens is at a focus distance from the keeper then there is a pinpoint of the rays from the sun. Then we have to measure the distance between the convex mirror and the paper. This is the the focal length of the convex lens
