Answer:

a). perimeter = 50.4 m

b).    1) length of the other diagonal = 6cm

        2). area of the rhombus = 48 m²

Step-by-step explanation:

Formula

1). Area of rhombus = d₁d₂   (if d₁ and d₂ are 2 diagonals)

2). For right angled triangle

Hypotenuse² = base² + height²

The figure attached with this answer shows the 2 rhombus.

a)It is given that, The area of a rhombus is 120 m square. If one of the diagonals is 24 m

Find the length of other diagonal

d₁  = 24

Area of rhombus = d₁d₂  = 120 m²

d₂ =120/ d₁ = 120 24 = 5 m

To find the side of rhombus

From the figure 1) we get triangle AOB is right triangle and

AO = 24/2 = 12 and BO = 5/2 = 2.5

AB² = AO² + BO²

AB² = 12² + 2.5² = 144 + 6.25 = 150.25

AB = √150.25 =12.26m

Find the perimeter

Perimeter of rhombus = 4*side = 4 * 12.26 = 50.4 m

b). It is given that, The sides of a rhombus are 5 cm each and one diagonal is 8 cm.

1). Find the length of the other diagonal

From the figure b) we get CD = 5cm and CO = 8/2 = 4 cm

ΔCOD is right triangle we get,

OD² =  CD² - CO²

OD² =  5² - 4² = 9

OD = 3

Therefore length of other diagonal = 2*OD = 2*  3 = 6 cm

2). Area of rhombus

d₁ = 8cm and d₂  = 6cm

Area of rhombus = d₁d₂  = 8*6 = 48
