Given :  Data in table

To Find :  Why we might use linearized data ?

A. The y-values are increasing

B. The r²-value of the linearized model is greater then 0.977

C. There is a pattern in the residual plot for the linearized data

D. This is the best model. You don't need to linearize the data

Solution:

x y

0 65

2 82

4 107

6 134

8 174

y = 13.5x + 58.4

R² = 0.977

But for  the linearized model

y = 0.857x2 + 6.642x + 65.25

R² = 0.999

0.999  > 0.977

R²-value of the linearized model is greater then 0.977

Hence we might use  linearized model
