a. On seeing the great dark clouds gathering in the sky, the poet's mind is first filled with the feelings of dismay, gloom and unhappiness. However as he lies snugged into his cozy bed with his head pressed against the pillow and listening to the soothing sound of the soft rain on the shingles of the roof, his gloom is lifted up and his mind is flooded with various thoughts abd imagination. As the rain falls on the roof, it's tinkling sound creates an echo in his heart which gives him immense pleasure and his heart is filled with various fantascies and fond memories of his mother. The rain brings to his mind memories of long gone years when he was a child sleeping with his siblings as his mother gazed down at them with love. The rains serves as an powerful narrative tool in the poet's life as it evokes nostalgia and fantascies in the poet's mind. Thus lifting up his spirit and bringing comfort to him
