A thief is running away on a straight road in jeep moving with a speed of 9m/s. A policeman chase him on motorcycle moving at a speed of 10m/s. If the instantaneous separation of the jeep from the motorcycle is 100m, how long will it take the policeman to catch the thief ?
plzz solve it stepwise with reason

velocity of jeep =9m/s

v of bike= 10m/s

v of bike w r t jeep = 10- 9= 1m/s along same axis

distance= 100m , v =1

time = 100 sec

Answer:

The policeman to catch the thief in 100 sec.

Explanation:

Given that,

A thief is running away on a straight road in jeep moving with a speed of 9 m/s. A policeman chase him on motorcycle moving at a speed of 10 m/s.

Speed of thief = 9 m/s

Speed of police = 10 m/s

Instantaneous separation  = 100 m

Now, The relative speed of police with respect to thief

v=v_{p}-v_{th}

v=10-9

v=1\ m/s

We know that,

The speed is equal to the distance divided by time.

v=\dfrac{d}{t}

We need to calculate the time

So, the time will be

t = \dfrac{d}{v}

Put the value of d and v into the formula

t=\dfrac{100}{1}

t = 100\ s

Hence, The policeman to catch the thief in 100 sec.
