(Refractive index-1)×A=D

Refractive index=D/A +1

=1/2 +1

=0.5+1

=1.5

The value of refractive index of the material = 1.5

Explanation:

Given by question,

Deviation, D = 1° and thin prism = 2°

To find, the value of refractive index of the material = ?

We know that,

(Refractive index - 1) × A = D

⇒ Refractive index =\dfrac{D}{A} +1

= \dfrac{1}{2} + 1

= 0.5 + 1

= 1.5

Hence, the value of refractive index of the material = 1.5
