Given:

A thin wire was wound 30 times closely over a boiling tube .the total length of the winding was found to be 9.3 mm.

To Find:

Calculate the radius of the wire.

Solution:

If wire is wound over tube by one times, length of winding is :

Length of winding = Diameter of wire      (For 1 turn)

If wire is wound over tube by N times, length of winding is :

Length of winding = N× Diameter of wire      (For N turns)

For wiring is wound over tube by 30 times, length of winding is :

On putting respective value in above equation:

9.3 = 30 × Diameter of wire

Diameter of wire = 0.31 mm

Radius of wire = 0.155 mm

Means the radius of wire is 0.155 mm.
