A three phase Y connected balanced
load is connected by 400V,50 Hz 3
phase supply. The impedance of each
phase is 10 ohm. What is the total
three phase power?​

Y connection, voltage applied across each impedance = 400/√3 so phase current = V/Z=400/10√3= 40/√3 amps

Power in each phase = Phase voltage x phase current = 400/√3 x 40/√3 = 1600/3 VA

Total power(three phases) = 1600/3 × 3 =1600 VA or 1.6 kVA

Active power can be calculated if load angle of 10 ohm impedance is known
