From question,

3X + Y = 25 (equation ― 1)

Again from question,

3X ― Y = 17 (equation ―2)

Adding equation―1 & 2, we get.

3X + Y + 3X ― Y = 25 + 17

6X = 42

Therefore, X = 7

Now putting the value of X in equation ― 1, we get

3×7 + Y = 25

21 + Y = 25

Y = 25 ― 21

Y = 4

Thus, the required numbers are 7 & 4.
