Answer:

Explanation:

a. Antonio replied to Gratiano's words by saying that he gives as much importance to worldly affairs as required. According to him, the world is a stage where every man has to play a role. His role is a sad one. It is to this comment Gratiano makes this reply.

b. Gratiano suggests that if the world is as Antonio says, then he will play the part of a jester who will encourage laughter, causing faces to wrinkle.

c. In Elizabethan times, it was believed that jaundice was caused by being irritable and bad tempered i.e., peevish. Gratiano was trying to say that if Antonio was not becoming happy, he would surely contract jaundice.

d.  Gratiano suggests that if the world is as Antonio says, then he will play the part of a jester who will encourage laughter, causing faces to wrinkle. He would rather seek pleasure in wine and harm his liver than burden his heart with sad groans which could kill him.
