A torpedo is launched under water, targeting a naval vessel about 5,000 m away. How can the vessel detect the torpedo before it reaches the vessel?

It can't be #1 because in the problem it states that the torpedo is launched underwater (and its a torpedo its fast)

It can't be #4 because #3 states you can listen for it underwater which is where the torpedo was launched and is to fast to hear it above water before it reaches the water.
