A torque i= 3t2 + 4t acts on a rotating solid
sphere, then what is the change in the angular
momentum of the sphere in the time interval
t= 0 to t= 4 s?
(1) 96 kg-m2 s-
(2) 64 kg-mas-1
(3) 32 kg-mas-1 (4) 28 kg-mas-1

Answer:

torque=change in angular momentum / time

Explanation:

(3t^2+4t)dt=change in momentum

3t^3/3 +4t^2/2

t^3 + 2t^2

t=4

answer will be 96

Given,

Torque i=3t²+4t

To Find,

Change in the angular momentum of the sphere.

Solution,

We know that,

torque=change in angular momentum / time

(3t²+4t)dt=change in momentum

Change in momentum=3t³/3 +4t²/2

                                      =t³ + 2t²

Time interval t=0 to t=4s

Change in momentum=4³+2×4²

                                      =64+32

                                      =96kgms^-1

Hence, change in the angular momentum between the time interval is 96kgms^-1(Option 1).
