→Given, A total of 50 juniors and seniors were given a mathematics test. The 35 juniors attained an average score of 80 while the 15 seniors attained an average of 70
The 35 juniors attained an average score of 80
now, marks attained by 35 juniors be x
we know that x/35=80
→x=80(35)=2800
→let marks attained by 15 juniors be y
given,
15 seniors attained an average of 70.
y/15=70
y=1050
now, the marks attained by 50 students =2800+1050=3850
→now, average score for all 50 students who took the test =3850/50=77
