Given:-

A total of ₹80,000 is to be distributed among 200 persons as prizes. A prize is either of ₹500 or ₹100. Find the number of each prize.

To Find:-

The number of each prize.

Solution:-

Let the given prizes of Rs 500 to z person and

Rs.100 to (200-x) persons.

According to the question,

80000= 500× x + (200-x)100

⇒80000=500+20000-100x

⇒80000-20000=500x - 10000x

⇒60000=400x

⇒60000÷ 400 = x

⇒150 =x

Hence, Rs 500 was given to 150 person and Rs 100 was given to 50 person.
