In a class of 90 students, numbers of boys are twice the number of girls. Kate is 58th from the left end and there are 20 boys to the right of Kate, then the number of girls to the left of Kate?

When children get 10x more attention than at school, it shows.

Let number of boys be x

And number of girls be y

Given x = 2y

And x + y = 90

=> 2y + y = 90

=> 3y = 90

=> y = 30

=> x = 60

And to the right of Kate there are 20 boys and that means the remaining 60 - 20 = 40 boys are standing onto her left.

As Kate is 58th girl, there are 58 -40 = 18

And excluding Kate , 18 - 1 = 17 girls to the left of her.
