A total of rupees 50000 is to be distributed among 200 persons as prizes.a price is either rupees 500 or rupees 100. find the number of each type of prices.​

Let the number of Persons accepting the Rs. 100 as prize be x

Then the number of persons accepting the Rs. 500 as prize will be 200 - x

Now, According to The Question ,

100x + 500(200 - x) = 50000

We can solve this linear equation to get the value of x.

100x + 500(200 - x) = 50000

=> 100x + 100000 - 500x = 50000

=> - 400x = 50000 - 100000

=> 400x = 50000

=> x = 50000/400

=> x = 125

Now the number of persons accepting Rs.100 as prize = 125

Now the number of persons accepting Rs.100 as prize = 125The number of persons accepting Rs.500 as prizs = 200 - 125 = 75 [ANS]

VERIFICATION :-

LHS = 125 × 100 + 75 × 500

= 12500 + 37500

= 50000

= RHS

HENCE, OUR ANSWER IS CORRECT !
