The mobile touchscreens generally contains 2 modules. one is touch and other is the screen which displays the content in the mobile. So Touch is basically embedded with the sensors and the screen of the device. 
So in this manner touchscreen combined is a input and output device both. 
When you go to mobile service center and ask for touch replacement, then the technician will simply say that you cant get the touch separately you have to buy touch + screen both.
