Increase= 10000*+(2*(10%10000))
= 10000*+(2*1000)
=10000+2000
=12000
Two years ago=10000*-(2*(10%10000))
= 10000*-(2*1000)
=10000-2000
=8000
Hope it helps.

population ( this year ) = 10000
increase per year = 10%
increase per year ( in no. ) = 10%of 10000
= 10/100×10,000
= 1000
population after 2 year = 10,000+(1000×2 )
= 10,000+ 2000
= 12,000
hence , population after 2 year is 12,000
population before 2 year = 10,000 - (1,000×2)
= 10,000 - 2,000
= 8,000
hence , population before 2 year is 8,000
