Total people = n(X u Y)
People reading Hindustan times =n(X)
People reading Times of India =n(Y)
People reading both papers = n(X n Y)
Substituting the values in,
n(X u Y) =n(X) + n(Y) - n(X n Y)
50000 = 28000 + 23000 -4000
so 3000 people do not read neither of the two papers.
