Provided that:

  • Initial velocity = 3 mps
  • Final velocity = 5 mps
  • Time = 5 seconds

To calculate:

  • The acceleration

Solution:

  • The acceleration = 0.4 mps sq.

Using concept(s):

• To solve this question we can use either first equation of motion or acceleration formula.

Using formula(s):

Acceleration formula:

  • a = (v-u)/t

First equation of motion:

  • v = u + at

Where, a denotes acceleration, u denotes initial velocity, v denotes final velocity and t denotes time taken.

Required solution:

By using first equation of motion.

→ v = u + at

→ 5 = 3 + a(5)

→ 5 - 3 = 5a

→ 2 = 5a

→ 2/5 = a

→ a = 2/5 mps sq.

→ Acceleration = 0.4 mps sq.

By using acceleration formula:

→ a = (v-u)/t

→ a = (5-3)/5

→ a = 2/5

→ Acceleration = 0.4 mps sq.

Question :-

  • A toy car accelerates 3 m/s to 5 m/s in 5 seconds . Calculate its Acceleration .

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Answer :-

  • Acceleration of car = 0.4 m/s² .

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Explanation :-

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Here, it is given that, A car accelerates from 3 m/s to 5 m/s in 5 seconds . And, we have to calculate the Acceleration .

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

  • Now, let's solve step by step -----

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

◆ Formula Required :-

  • \sf{ A=  \frac{v - u}{t} } \\

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Here ,

  • A denotes to Acceleration
  • V denotes to Final Velocity
  • U denotes to Initial Velocity
  • T denotes to Time

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

By substituting the given values :-

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

\dashrightarrow \:  \sf{Acceleration = \frac{5 - 3}{5}  } \\  \\  \dashrightarrow \:  \sf{Acceleration =  \frac{2}{5} } \\  \\  \dashrightarrow \:  \sf{Acceleration =0.4 }

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Hence :-

  • Acceleration of car = 0.4 m/s² .
