A toy car was moving at a speed of 20cm / s. After going a distance of 1 meter, the speed of the car stopped at 50cm / s. Determine the acceleration of the vehicle.

Given :-

Initial Velocity of the toy car = u = 20 cms-¹

Final Velocity of the toy car = v = 50 cms-¹

Distance covered = 1 m = 100 cm

Using the third equation of Motion.

v² - u² = 2aS

(50)² - (20)² = 2 × 100 × a

2500 - 400 = 200a

a = 2100/200

a = 10.5 cms-²

Hence,

Acceleration of the the toy car = a = 10.5 cms-².

Dimension of Acceleration = [a] = [M⁰LT-²].

When a body is at rest and starts accelerating then its initial velocity becomes zero, only it has final Velocity.
