A trader by selling one kind of tea at * 80/kg makes a loss of 20% and
makes a profit of 25% by selling another kind of tea at 200/kg. At
what ratio these two types of tea should be mixed so that by selling
it at rupees 150/kg. the profit would be 25%.

Solution :-

→ SP of first kind of tea = Rs. 80/kg

→ Loss = 20%

So,

→ CP of first kind of tea = SP * 100/(100 - Loss % ) = (80*100)/80 = Rs. 100

similarly,

→ SP of second kind of tea = Rs. 200/kg

→ Profit = 25%

So,

→ CP of second kind of tea = SP * 100/(100 + Profit ) = (200*100)/125 = Rs. 160

now,

→ SP of both kind of tea = 150/kg

→ Profit = 25%

So,

→ CP of both kind of tea = SP * 100/(100 + Profit ) = (150*100)/125 = Rs. 120

now, let x kg of first type and y kg of second type is mixed .

So,

→ 100x + 160y = 120(x + y)

→ 100x + 160y = 120x + 120y

→ 120x - 100x = 160y - 120y

→ 20x = 40y

→ x = 2y

→ x/y = 2/1

→ x : y = 2 : 1 .

Therefore, required ratio of two type of tea will be 2 : 1 .

Another way :- using alligation

100 160

120

40. 20

= 2 : 1 (Ans)
