Answer:

-5%.(loss) or 40% (profit). Answer.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let C.P. of the article =Rs.p.

Marked price = p.(1+5x/100)=Rs. p.(20+x)/20.

S.P.= (x+20).p/20.{1- (x+5)/100}

= (x+20).p.(95-x)/2000.

S.P./C.P.= (100+r)/100

(20+x).(95-x).p/2000.p = (100+3x-5)/100.

or , (20+x).(95-x)/20= (95+3x).

or , 1900+95x-20x-x^2 = 1900+60x.

or, x^2-15x =0

or , x.(x-15)= 0

or, x = 0 , 15

Thus, profit % = (3x-5)% = (3×0–5) or. (3×15–5)

= -5%.(loss) or 40% (profit). Answer.
