✔️ Question:-
A trader mixes 2 kg of butter which costs $8 per kg with 3 kg of butter which costs $6 per kg. He sells the mixture at $2.55 per 250g. Express his profit as a percentage of his selling price.
✔️ Answer:-
Total cost of 2 kg butter @ $ 8 per kg = 8*2
= $ 16
Total cost of 3 kg butter @ $ 6 per kg = 6*3
= $ 18
Total cost of 5 kg butter = $ 16 + $ 18
= $ 34
Selling price = $ 2.55 per 250 g
Selling price of per kg = $ 2.55*4
= $ 10.2/kg
Selling price of 5 kg = 10.2*5
= $ 51
Profit = $ 51 - $ 34
= $ 17
Percentage on cost price = ($ 17*100)/$34
= 50 %
Percentage on selling price = ($ 17*100)/$51
= 33.33 %

Given:-
- C.P. of butter = $8 per kg
- Quantity of butter used = 2kg
- C.P. of other quality of butter = $6 per kg
- Quantity of other quality butter = 3kg
- S.P. of mixture of butter = $2.55 per 250 g

To Find:-
- Total Profit percentage
════◄••❀••►════
Formula Used:-
- Profit = S.P. - C.P.
- Profit % = {(Profit ÷ C.P.) × 100}%
════◄••❀••►════
Solution:-
Finding total C.P. of mixture:
➥ C.P. of 2 kg of butter
= 2 × $8
= $16
➥ C.P. of 3 kg of other quality of butter
= 3 × $6
= $18
➥ Total C.P. of mixture
= $16 + $18
= $34
Finding total s.p. of mixture:
➥ Total Amount of mixture
= 2 + 3
= 5kg
➥ Cost of 1 kg of mixture
= $2.55 × (1000 ÷ 250)
= $2.55 × 4
= $10.2
➥ Total cost of mixture
= 5 × $10.2
= $51
Finding profit percentage:
➥ Profit
= S.P. - C.P.
= 51 - 34
= 17
➥ Profit Percentage on cost price
= {(Profit ÷ C.P.) × 100}%
= {(17 ÷ 34) × 100}%
= {100 ÷ 2}%
= 50%
➥ Profit Percentage on selling price
= {(Profit ÷ S.P.) × 100}%
= {(17 ÷ 51) × 100}%
= {100 ÷ 3}%
= 33.3%
