A tradesman marks his goods at such a price that after allowing a discount of 15%, he makes a profit of 20%. What is the marked price of an article whose cost price is rupees 170?

let the marked price x rs
discount 15%
so SP =x-15x/100=85x/100 rs
again SP =120% of CP=120*170/100=204 rs
so 85x/100=204
or x=240
so the marked price is 240 rs
