Duration of the traffic school class = 2.5 hours.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: A traffic school class has three parts.

First part = 1/5 class time

Second part = 70 minutes

Third part = 1/3 class time

Find: Duration of the  traffic school class.

Solution:

Let first part be a, second part be b and third part be c.

We know that a + b + c = 1

a = 1/5

b = x

c = 1/3

Substituting, we get: 1/5 + x + 1/3 = 1

   3 + 15x + 5 = 15

    15x = 7

   x = 7/15 of class time.

Now we know that second part is 70 minutes.

 So 7/15 = 70

Hence full class time = 70 * 15/7 = 150 minutes.
