Step-by-step explanation:

it speed in m/s

is 108 ×5/18=30

then take 13 a to fully cross means it travel distance = bridge length + 110 m ( length of train)

total distance in 13 second = 13 ×30 =390 m

thus length of bridge = 390-110=280m

hope it helps

GIVEN:

  • Length of Train is 110 m
  • speed of train = 108 km/hr
  • Time taken by train to cross a bridge is 13s

TO FIND:

  • Length of the bridge.

SOLUTION:

Let the length of bridge be x metres.

Therefore Distance covered by train to cross the bridge = (110 + x) m

\tt \: \: \begin{tabular}{| l | c | c |} \cline{1-3} Distance travelled (m) & 10800 & 110+x \\ \cline{1 - 3} Time taken (s) & 3600 & 13 \\ \cline{1 - 3}\end{tabular}

This is case of direct variation.

 \therefore \bf\:  \frac{x1}{y1}  =  \frac{x2}{y2}  \\  \\  \implies \tt \:  \frac{10800}{3600}  =  \frac{110 + x}{13}  \\  \\  \implies \tt \: 30 \times 13 = 110 + x \\  \\  \implies \tt \:  \: 390 = 110  + x \\  \\  \implies \tt \: x = 390 - 110 \\  \\  \implies \tt \: x = 280

Hence Length of bridge is 280 m.
