a train 160 m long passes a platform in 18 sec. how long will it take to pass another platform 100 m long?
is this problem even solvable?
160 is not the total distance covered in 18 sec. (length of the platform is missing)
the second total distance is 160+100.
please help...

✓✓✓ Checking Units in given Question:

Distance in Mrs

time in seconds

So we can get speed in m/s

### Use the formula Speed = Distance/Time

✓✓✓ When we say train has to pass another platform, we refer to the edge of the train end that has to be crossed.

So In distance we count the train's length and platform of train.

Distance = 160+100=260m

✓✓✓ Time = 18

We get Speed = 260/18 m/s = 14.44 m/s

Note: This can also be converted to km/h.
