A train 350 m long takes 36 seconds to cross a man running at a speed of 5 kmph in the direction opposite to that of train. What is the speed of the train?

Given;

Speed of man=5km/h

Total time taken=36s

Length of train=350m

Now;

Let speed of train be x m/s  and of man be 5*5/18 (since converted in metre per second for equation)

WE CAN USE THE EQUATION   total time=distance of train/Speed of train + speed of man(both are in the opposite direction).

Therefore:  36= 350/ x+(5*5/18)

648x + 900 =6300

648x =5400

x =8.3

Ans=8.3
