Given

Length of the train which is 760m

Length of the platform is 440m

Time in which train reach the station=40 seconds

To Find

Speed of the train in km/hr

\sf\huge\bold{\underline{\underline{{Solution}}}}

Step by step explanation:

  1. First we find the total distance including the length of the train and platform.
  2. After finding the total distance we will apply distance formula and time is given.
  3. We will find the missing value which is speed.

Length of the train= 760m

length of the platform= 440m

Total length = length of the train+ length of the platform.

=>Total length= 760m+440m

=>Total length = 1200m

We have given time = 40 metre/ seconds

We know the formula of Distance:

Distance=speed×time

Now,put the values

=>1200= Speed× 40

=>speed= 1200/40

=>Speed= 30m/s

We find the speed in m/s we have to convert into km/hr

For converting m/s into km/hr=>

\sf \bold{=>\dfrac{m}{s}  =  \dfrac{ \dfrac{1}{1000}  \times km}{ \dfrac{1}{3600}  \times hr}}

 \sf\bold{=  >  \dfrac{m}{s}  =  \dfrac{3600 \times km}{1000 \times h}}

 \sf\bold{=  >  \dfrac{m}{s}  =  \dfrac{18 \times km}{5 \times hr}}

So,we have to multiply by 18/5 when we convert m/s into km/hr

=>Speed = 30× 18/5

=>Speed= 18×6=108km/hr

Therefore,the speed of the train is 108km/hr
