A train attains a velocity of 72km/hr in 5 mins. How much distance did the train travel and

with what acceleration ?​

Given :-

  • Initial velocity = 0
  • Final velocity = 72 km/hr = 20 m/s
  • Time = 5 mins = 300 seconds

To Find :-

  • Acceleration
  • Distance

Solution :-

Calcualting Acceleration :-

We know that,

→ v = u + at

Substituting the value in formula :-

→ 20 = 0 + 300a

→ 300a = 20

→ 30a = 2

→ a = 2 / 30

→ a = 1 / 15

Acceleration = 1 / 15 m/s²

Calulating distance travelled :-

We know that,

→ s = ut + ½ at²

Substituting the value in formula :-

→ s = 0 × 300 + 1 / 2 × 1 / 15 × 300 × 300

→ s = 1 / 30 × 300 × 300

→ s = 3000

Distance travelled = 3000 m or 3 km
