Answer:    speed of the train is 96 km per hour

Step-by-step explanation:

Alright, lets get started.

Suppose the speed of train is : x km per hour

So, time taken to cover distance of 576 km will be : \frac{distance}{speed}

So, time taken to cover distance of 576 km will be : \frac{576}{x}

If speed is decreased by 24, the speed will be : (x-24)

Time taken to cover the same distance 576 km will be : \frac{576}{x-24}

this time taken is 2 hours more than previous one, so

\frac{576}{x}+2=\frac{576}{x-24}

\frac{576}{x-24}-\frac{576}{x}=2

\frac{576x - 576x+13824}{x(x-24)}=2

x=96 \ and\  x = -72

Speed can not be negative so,

speed of the train is 96 km per hour.   :   Answer
