Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Time to cross the pole = 5 sec

Time to crosses the tunnel = 20 sec

Formula used:

Speed = Distance/Time

Calculation:

Let the length of the tunnel be x m and the length of the train be y m

Time = Distance/Speed

⇒ 5 = (y/90)

⇒ y = 450 m

Time to crosses the tunnel = Distance/Speed

⇒ 20 = (y + x)/90

⇒ 20 × 90 = (450 + x)

⇒ x = 1800 - 450 = 1350

∴ The length of the tunnel is 1350 m.

Answer:

speed =72 km/h ; length of train = 100m

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the speed of train be x km/sec and length of train be y m.

Using the formula, speed  =Distance/

Time

from first condition, we get

x =y/5

 5x -y=0 ... (1)

From second condition, we get

x =600+y/35

35x- y =600 ... (2)

Subtracting equation (2) from (1),

35x -y =600 ... (2)

5x -y =0 ... (1)

--------------------

30x  =600

 x =  600/30

x=20

substituting x =20 in equation (1), we get

5(20) - y=  0

= 100 - y =0;  y =100

Speed of the train is 20m/sec. Let us convert the speed in km/h.

= 20m/sec =20 ×3600/1000 km/h

=72 km/h.

Ans. Speed of the train is 72km/h and length of the train is 100 meter
