A train first travels for 30 mins with a speed of 30 km per hr and then for 40 mins with a speed of 40 km per hr in the same direction. Calculate the total distance and also calculate the average speed.

My answer:

Total distance (d) = 41.4 km per hr

Average speed (v) = 70 km per hr

Please recheck the ans for me.

I will give him or her the brainliest who will give this right ans first by proving it i.e. right ans.

Thanks.

Step-by-step explanation:

First travel

time = 30 minutes

time = 1/2 hrs

speed = 30 km/ hrs

then distance= t × s

distance = (1/2 × 30) km

distance = 15 km

2nd travel

time = 40 minutes

time = 40 / 60 hrs

time = 2/3 hrs

speed = 40 km/ hrs

distance = t × s

distance = 2/3 × 40

distance = 80 / 3 km

Total distance

(15 + 80 / 3) km

(15/ 1 + 80 / 3) km

{( 45 + 80 ) / 3 } km

( 125 / 3 ) km

41.4 km

Average speed

2xy/x + y

(2 × 30 × 40 / 30 + 40) km / h

(2400 / 70 ) km / h

34.28km / h answer
