average speed = total distance travelled / total time taken
and we know that distance = speed × time
so when speed is 60 the distance will be 60×1=60 km
and when speed is 40 the distance will be 40×1/2=20km
hence average speed is : 60+20/1+1/2
=80/1.5
=800/15
=53.33 km/hr
