\mathfrak{Question:}

A train 100 metre long is moving with the velocity of 72 km per hour. Find the time it takes to cross the bridge with 2 kilometre long.

\tt{Given:}

  • Length of train = 100 m.
  • Speed of train = 72 km per hour = 20 m per sec .
  • Length of bridge = 2 km = 2000 m.

\mathfrak{Solution :}

\bf{Time =\dfrac{Distance }{Speed}}.

Here,

Distance = Length of train + Length of bridge

So,

\bf{Time = \dfrac {100+2000}{20}=\dfrac{2100}{20}=105\; sec.}

The velocity of the train v = 72 km/hr. The distance of the bridge is 1 km. = 1000 m. = 1100 m.
