When last compartment passes through pole distance covered by first compartment is l

∴v2=u2+2al

∴a=2lv2−u2

Now, when middle post passes, distance covered by first compartment is 2l

∴vf2=u2+2Ral

=u2+(2lv2−u2)l=2v2+u2

∴vf=2v2+u2
