A train is booked to do the run between two places, 55km apart, in 1hr 20min. If it travels for the first 30 km at 36km per hr, at what speed must it travel for the rest of the distance in order to complete the journey in time?

Hello,
Distance between the two towns = 55m
Time allotted = 1hr 20 min

Now, speed of train for 30km = 36km/hr
Now, distance = 30 km
Now, we know,
Time = distance /speed
So, time taken to complete 30km with speed of 36km/hr
Time = 30/36 = 5/6 hrs
So, remaining time = 3/2 hrs - 5/6hrs = 2/3hrs
Remaining distance = 55 - 30=25km
Again
Speed = distance /time = 25/2/3= 75/2 = 37.5 km/hr.

The basic idea used is
distance \:  = speed \times time

Hope this will be helping you.
