Given:

uniform speed of the train = 75 km/hr

To Find:

• distance covered by train in 20 mins

• times required to cover a distance of 250km

Solution:

1) it is given that the uniform speed of the train is 75 km/hour

therefore,

distance covered by the train in 1 hour = 75km

distance covered by the train in 60 mins = 75km

now,

distance covered by the train in 1 minute

⟹ \sf{\frac{75 km}{60}}

we have to find:

the distance covered by the train in 20 minutes

so, using unitary method,we get:

⟹\sf{\frac{75 km}{60} × 20}

⟹\sf\underline\red{25 km}

2) uniform speed of the train = 75km\hour

we can write it as:

time required to cover a distance of 75km = 1 hr

therefore,

time required to cover a distance of 1 km

⟹\sf{\frac{1}{75}hour}

using unitary method,we get:

time required by the train to cover a distance of 250km

⟹\sf{\frac{1}{75} × 250km}

⟹\sf\underline\red{ 3\:hours\: 20\: minutes}

Hence,

  • distance covered by the train in 20 minutes is 25 kilometres

  • time required by the train to cover a distance of 250 kilometres is 3 hours 20 minutes
