Average velocity of bird with respect to train is zero

Average velocity of bird with respect to ground is 3v1

Solution:

bird starts  flying from the rear end of the train in the direction of motion of train with  speed v2 and goes upto the front and then back to the rear end with  same speed.

Bird Final and initial Position with respect to Train is same

Hence Average velocity of bird with respect to train is zero

Average velocity of bird with respect to ground   is V1   - Same as Train

As Average velocity of bird with respect to train is zero

Average speed of bird with respect to ground is  V2   as Bird speed is constant Through out the journey  

Average speed of bird with respect to train is V2 - V1
