A train is moving with an initial velocity of 30m/s. The brakes are applied so as to produce a uniform acceleration of-1.5m/s square. Calculate the time in which it will come to rest.
[ Ans . 20sec] But I want solution.

• Initial velocity (u) = 30 m/s

• Final velocity (v) = 0 m/s

(Because breaks are applied. Due to this train comes at rest. So, it's final velocity is 0)

• Acceleration (a) = - 1.5 m/s²

(As the train comes at rest)

• We have to find the time at which train come at rest.

Now..

» v = u + at

Put the known values in above formula

→ 0 = 30 + (-1.5)t

→ - 30 = - 1.5t

→ 1.5t = 30

→ t = 20 sec

After 20 seconds train will come to rest.

Answer: 20 seconds

Explanation:

u=30m/s

a= 1.5m/s^2

v=0

t=?

v=u+at, 0=30+(1.5)t

30/1.5+t

20=t
