A train is moving with speed of 40 km/h .as soon as another train going in the opposite direction passed by the window ,the passenger of the first train starts his stopwatch and notes that other train passes the window in 3 s. Find the speed of the train going in the opposite direction if it's length is 75 m.

since they move in the opposite directions there velocities should be added.

Vab=Va-Vb=40-(-Vb)=40+Vb

distance covered=D=75m

t=3

Vab=D/t

40+Vb=75/3

Vb=15m/s
