Given:-

Initial velocity(u)=72km/h

=>72×5/18

=>20m/s

Acceleration(a)= -0.2m/s²

Final velocity(v)=0 (as it comes to rest after application of brakes)

To find:-

Distance,it will travel(s)

Solution:-

By,using the third equation of motion,we get----

=>v²-u²=2as

=>0-(20)²=2×(-0.2)s

=> -400= -0.4s

=> s= -400/-0.4

=> s=1000m

Thus,the train will travel a distance of 1000m or 1km before it stops.
