a train is travelling at a speed of 60 km per hour brakes are applied so as to produce a uniform acceleration of - 0.5 metre per second square find how far will the train will go before it is brought to rest

So initial velocity of the train is 60 km/hr

As accelaration is in m/sec so we also change initial velocity acc. to acceleration

60km/hr=16.6666m/sec

so u = 17 approx

v= 0 (as the train stops)

a= -5m/s^2

Using third equation of motion:-

v^2 -u^2 = 2as

0-289=2(-5)s

28.9 =s

Means the dustance travel by the train to come rest is 28.9 metre or approx 29 metre

joyal17: a= 0.5m/s^2 man not 5 m/s^2
Slaveking: sorry
Slaveking: for mistake
