Step-by-step explanation:

initial speed, u = 80 × 5/18 = 22.22 m/s

final speed, v = 0 m/s

acceleration, a = -0.5 m/s^2

BY eq. of motion, we have,

 {v}^{2} = {u}^{2} - 2as

 {0}^{2} = {(22.22)}^{2} + 2( - 0.5)s \\ = > s \: = {(22.22)}^{2} = 493.72m \\ = > s = 493.72m \: \\ or \: 0.493km

ANS. Hence, 493.72m the train will go before it is brought to rest.
