A train is travelling at a uniform speed for 360km would have taken 48 minutes less to travel the same distance if its speed were 5 km/h more . Find original speedof the train .

And the time taken by train is t hr so, speed=distance/time

Now, x=t/360--------( 1 )

Again if the speed was 5km/hr more the time would have been 48min less

So the time is 48/60=0.8hrs

X+5=360/(t-0.8)

Putting the value of x in the eqn,

360/t+5=360/t-0.8

Or, 5t^2-40t-288=0

Or, (5t+36)(t-8)=0

Or, t=-36/5 , 8

Since time cannot be negative so conisdering t=8hrs, the speed is determined by 360/8 km/hr

= 45km/hr
